We went today for the 1 year check up and didn't get the best news. He has yet another double ear infection and we are to get tubes as soon as possible. So what I was hoping was teething is in fact an ear infection and the reason we haven't slept through the night in about 2 weeks. We have been putting off tubes for as long as possible, but now I am just ready for him to feel better. I honestly hoped he would grow out of it. I feel a little better about it now that he is a year old. He seemed so little to be getting tubes at 9 months old when we were referred to the ENT the first time.
The Dr also seemed pretty concerned that B has not been pulling up AT ALL. He doesn't crawl he scoots everywhere and gets anywhere he wants to go, but he has never really tried to pull up in his crib. So she recommended that we see a Physical Therapist to work on his gross motor skills at least before his 15 month appointment. He certainly is spoiled at home and daycare, he is always being carried around.
I feel that when he gets tubes his development all around will advance quite a bit. I mean he has pretty much felt like crap for the last 3-4 months and the fluid in his ears could be affecting his balance, hearing and language. Anyway, we are going to get tubes hopefully by next weekend and see how it goes. I am still so nervous about the anesthesia!
He has to get another hearing test done and hopefully he will pass this one.
His weight has dropped/leveled a bit, but she said that was pretty normal when just getting off the bottle. He weighed 21lbs 4oz (25%) and 29in (25%). She seemed happy with his fine motor skills as well. We decided to delay his MMR shot for another 3 months too.
He is on another round of antibiotics until we can get him in to the ENT. Crossing our fingers that it will be very soon! I'm just ready for him to feel better!!!

Good luck with the ENT and the tubes. My 18 month old nephew just got tubes and did so great. He started talking just hours after, or at least mimicking what people were saying. He could really not even hear before. His attitude was better too. I'm sure the walking/pulling up will come!
Hey girl! Aw... I am sorry Boston is going to have to get tubes but I am sure he will feel so much better once he has them and I bet it will help him so much! You all will be in my thoughts and prayers!!
