1st Trip to the Zoo

We met Aunt Tara, Cole and Hope today at the zoo. I can't remember the last time I have been there! You slept almost the whole time, but I took lots of pictures for you to see when you get bigger. It was such a beautiful day and we had a really good time. Daddy and I will definitely have take you when you get a little older.

Off to see Aunt Amanda!

Today we took a trip to Conway to eat lunch at Mean Bean with Aunt Amanda and Taylor. I just had to put you in the new spring outfit I got for Boston! He cracks me up! He looks so enthused to have his picture taken! I was hoping he could meet Miss Georgia but she went to school today. I have been missing some Mean Bean Cafe lately, but it just didn't seem as great as I remembered. I had to return the butt load of maternity clothes that Amanda let me borrow too. I am so relieved that I don't have to wear them anymore! I need to get some new clothes but I just don't know what is "in-style" since I have been preggers. Nothing seems to look right on me now and I feel like i have somewhat lost my identity since becoming a mom. I'm not even sure what I like for clothing anymore...
I also took Mollie and Andre (my previous schnauzers) some new toys. I haven't seen them since Christmas! It was good to see them and they didn't even notice Boston until he started grunting, then Andre barked like crazy. Needless to say we didn't stay long! It was a great day to get out of the house! Tomorrow we are off to watch daddy's bowling tournament, yay!

6 weeks!

0

Boston is 6 weeks old today! I cannot imagine if I had to be back at work right now, I'm just not ready, but I doubt I will ever be ready to go back. If only I could work at least part time...sigh...
He is growing like a weed and looking more like his daddy everyday. He is around 9lbs 10oz and eating every 3-4 hours. Thank goodness it is more on a "schedule" now. He is only waking up twice a night to eat, but the after the last feeding it's hard to get him to go back to sleep in his chair, so i end up putting him in the bed with me. I know, big mistake I'm sure, but sleep is very precious to us right now, so whatever works we will have to deal with the consequences later. That being said, he will only sleep in his bouncy chair; he does not like flat surfaces. Any ideas to change that would be greatly appreciated. I would really like for him to sleep in his pack and play and eventually move on to the crib.
I have read everywhere that you cannot "spoil" a newborn but I have to disagree. He LOVES to be held and rarely lets me put him down for more that a few minutes without fussing. He has taken a bottle very well and that has provided me with some much needed free time. He and Kyle had some bonding time last Friday and watched basketball all day, while I ran errands. We are going to try to give him a little bit of formula this week just to make sure he will take it.
I plan on stopping by the daycare hopefully this week to meet his teachers and see what I will need to bring when that dreaded day arrives. I am slowly trying to get us on a better schedule to prepare for April 13th. We have gotten into the bad habit of going to be late and sleeping in, so I am trying to get up earlier each day, but it is so hard!
On another note, Boston went to his first birthday party this weekend! Our friends Craig and Lacy's little boy Jake turned one so we headed to Hot Springs for the party. He slept the whole time! The more noise and movement the better where this little boy is concerned! Of course we came back with some great gifts from the Gigerich's too! We will be seeing them again in a couple of weeks, they are staying the weekend with us while the boys are in a golf tournament. That should be interesting, we will have a full house!

If I had no animals...

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like the kennels.
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading
through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch the way I wanted, without taking into
consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get
comfortable.
I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree -- dog
bones, stuffed animals , nor would I have to answer to people why I
wrap them.
I would not be on a first-name basis with three veterinarians.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down,
come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or
barriers.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an
extra leash.
I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L-, F-R-I-S-B-E- E,
or W-A-L-K.
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog ties
them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the melting of snow instead of
dreading mud season.
I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many
dogs/animals?" from people who will never have the joy in their
lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by something
as close to an angel as they will ever get.
How empty my life would be.

1 month old!

Boston was 1 month old on Tuesday! I can't believe how fast it has gone by! I had my check-up yesterday and everything looked fine. She told me to wait a couple more weeks before I start working out though...bummer. I had been taking Boston for walks in the stroller when the weather was so great, but now it is back to being too cold. We ate lunch with my mom yesterday and showed him off at her office and my office. He did really good, but got fussy towards the end. My goal was to go to Target yesterday, but we didn't make it. It started raining and i didn't want to get him out especially when he was fussy. My arms and back are SO sore from carrying his car seat around all day. I have to build up my strength. It is so hard getting around with a baby!
Up until last night he had been doing lots better with sleeping at night. We started the routine of a nightly bath and story time, then feeding and bedtime. He was only waking up twice to eat and then going right back to sleep. Last night is another story...he slept a lot yesterday and I guess it was all too much for him because he was fussy MOST of the night. We may have gotten 3 hours of sleep total! I hope to get back on schedule today. I wish this weather would get better, I am itching to get some shopping done and get out of the house more! I only have 4 weeks left until i go back to work and I have so much to get done!

Amateur photo shoot...

I am working on Boston's birth announcements and here are some photos I took this morning. I have found some really cute designs online, I just can't decide which one is my favorite! Imagine that, me indecisive...?

Oh what funny faces he makes

Boston is now a little over 3 weeks old and he has changed so much from when we brought him home! He is growing like crazy! I love to just sit and watch him sleep, he makes the funniest faces. I am so ready to get out of the house! I did take him with me to get my hair done last Friday and he did great! Slept the whole time, but I did have to pull over on the way home to feed him. This breastfeeding thing really ties me down, but I am going to keep at it. We are going to try the bottle in a couple of weeks so that will help.
I thought I was going to be able to take him and show him off to my office, but we haven't had a very good couple of nights. I absolutely dread going to be each night. He has been very fussy and gassy and nothing seems to make it better so there has not been any sleeping for us at the Burton house. He sleeps like a champ during the day, nothing can wake him! But at night he wakes up all the time! I hope he gets his days and nights straight soon before I lose my mind!
On another note, I am so glad it is getting warmer! That helps my mood tremendously. You can definitely say I have had a case of the baby blues. Just being at home all day makes me feel so lazy even though I am constantly doing things around the house or for Boston. I have started tanning again and it has helped me feel better for sure. I look forward to taking him out in the stroller and start exercising again! I still have about 12 pounds to loose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am ready to start fitting into my clothes again and ready to go shopping! I plan on getting back on weight watchers soon and hopefully will lose a little more weight on top of the 12lbs.
