Poor Baby!

How pitiful is this???
We had to take B back to the Dr. today.  He still has a bad cough and congestion and had 102.7 degree fever last night.  We couldn't seem to get it back down and he is drooling excessively! Notice the onesie, I have changed his clothes 3 times today b/c they were wet from drool!
The Dr said he still had a bad ear infection and gave us more antibiotics but i can't help but think there may be more to it.  He has been sick ever since i quit breastfeeding and i feel like it's my fault.  I pray he gets better soon! I want my happy baby boy back!

Good Devotional

Eliminate Negative Self-Talk
by Rick Warren
"Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts" (Proverbs 4:23 GN).

Long before psychology came around, God said your thoughts determine your feelings and your feelings determine your actions. If you want to change your life, you've got to control the way you think.

Our minds are really an amazing creation. It would take a computer the size of a small city just to carry out the basic functions of your brain. Your brain contains over one hundred billion nerve cells. Each individual cell is connected with ten thousand other neurons.

In addition, you're constantly talking to yourself--all the time. Your mind is talking to you! You're talking to yourself right now. Research indicates that most people speak at a rate of 150 to 200 words per minute, but the mind can listen to about 500-600 words a minute. That's why you can listen to me and plan today's dinner at the same time.

In fact, our internal dialogue--the conversation we have with ourselves--is at a rate of 1,300 words per minute. How? Because our mind sees in pictures, and you can see a thought in a nano-second!

The problem is a lot of us are like Job, who says, "Everything I say seems to condemn me" (Job 9:20 GN). He is saying, in effect, "Everything I say puts me down." If you are typical to the human race, you are your own worst critic.

We're always putting ourselves down. We walk into a room smiling, but inside we're thinking, "I’m fat. I'm dumb. I'm ugly. And I'm always late!"

God wants us to stop putting ourselves down. When you put yourself down, who are you really putting down? When you say, "I'm fat. I'm dumb. I'm ugly. I'm no good. I have no talent," you're really pointing to the Creator who made you. When you say, "God, I'm worthless. I'm no good. I can't do anything," you're saying, "God, you blew it with me." That's why God says it's wrong to put yourself down.

How do you eliminate negative self-talk so you can become a more confident person?

The Bible teaches the principle of replacement: "Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right . . . Think about all you can thank God for and be glad about" (Philippians 4:8 TLB).

In other words, don't think about all those weaknesses in your life. Focus on who God wants you want to be and on what God wants to do in your life. I don't know any better antidote to low self-esteem (or to facing your hurts, habits, and hang-ups) than to read God's word every day: study it, memorize it, meditate on it, and apply it in your life.

There isn't a better thing you can do to raise your confidence level than to start believing what God says about you. As I read through the Bible, chapter by chapter, I find a verse that speaks to me. I write it down on a card, memorize it, and then I start affirming it back to God. "Father, thank you that I am valuable; I am significant; I am forgivable; I am capable." Let God renew your mind because "your life is shaped by your thoughts" (Proverbs 4:23 GN).

Fall Wreath

I decided to make a new fall wreath because our other one looked so bad!  In the midst of my nesting last year i guess I threw away most of our fall decor!  I didn't have much but now this is all we have.  I'm going to hit up Hobby Lobby when it goes on sale! I have been in such a decorating mood lately.

7 months old!

Today Boston is 7 months old and every day seems to be flying by faster and faster.
What Boston is up to these days:

  • STILL no teeth yet.
  • Sitting up for a really long time and lunging forward while playing with his toys.
  • Sleeping in his crib (through the night for the most part)
  • Wears size 3 diapers
  • Growing out of his 6 month and some 6-9 month clothes.
  • Not crawling yet, but that is just fine with me :)
  • Can stand while holding my fingers/hand
  • Smiles ALOT
  • says dada dada and other jibber jabber
  • reaches for me and it melts my heart :)
  • Eating a fruit and/or oatmeal in the morning and a veggie at night. Going to start having lunch too.
  • Officially quit breastfeeding as of two weeks ago.  I am almost out of my freezer stock and he is taking formula with no problems.  Mommy's boobies are officially gone now...
  • LOVES bath time and is usually asleep for the night by 8:00 and wakes at 5:30am
  • LOVES to cuddle up while trying to fall asleep at night.
This time with you has just FLOWN by. We cherish every second with you and love watching you grow and learn every day. We love you more than you will ever know!

6 month check up (at 7 months) and a very sick boy...

Yesterday we took Boston for his 6 month shots and check up. He started getting sick on Sunday night, runny nose, sneezing, etc.  I didn't think much of it b/c he has been congested before. But it got much worse.  I finally got a taste of what having a "difficult" baby feels like and IT SUCKS!  He did not sleep well Sunday or Monday night but only had a mild fever so i treated it with Tylenol and saline drops.  When Dr. S saw him yesterday she said he had an ear infection in his left ear :(  His first one.  She prescibed some Amoxicillian and went ahead with his shots.  He also got a flu shot.  We have to be extra careful and take all the precautions for Kyle's mom.  Poor baby had 4 shots :(   I could tell he wasn't feeling well all day yesterday in his eyes.  Well this morning at 5:00 he had a 102 degree fever!  It has been fluctuating all night/morning and we are trying to keep control of it with Tylenol and Motrin. I can tell he feels awful, i wish i could do something to help.  I am staying at home with him again today.  I haven't been to work since LAST THURSDAY but I have to admit I don't mind a bit!

His STATS:
Weight: 18.7lbs  (60th percentile)
Height: 27.5" (80th percentile)
Head:  18" (90th percentile!)

I will do a 7 month post tomorrow. I can't believe it...

Anniversary Present

We got new furniture for our one year anniversary!  I am so excited.  We HAD to get a dining room table because we are having Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner at our house this year.  The table is huge, I think it is going to make our dining area look tiny!  But that is ok, I have been itching to re-decorate our house.  Now for a new shag rug to complete the look!

More paintings-check them out!

Game Day!

Go Gators! Boston experienced his first SEC game day and watched the Gators bring home a huge win!  This is the start of something big in the Burton household.  I'm not sure why but I believe Kyle is the biggest Florida fan EVER and he is planning on teaching Boston the Gator pride.  Don't worry friends, Boston will know how to call those HOGS too!  I just love his game day outfit.  It makes his baby blues stand out! I have to admit I am a bit obsessed with matching his paci, bib, and paci holder to all of his outfits!  After all it is all about the outfit in my eyes :)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.  I know I am excited to have 4 days off!  Boston's 6 month check-up (yes he will be 7 months next week!) is Tuesday and I am anxious to see how much he has grown.  I just had to post a few pics of my boys.  Boston just loves Murphy and I think the feeling is mutual :)  Also check out his new super cute jammies!
I posted some more of my art on my art blog. Go check it out!  I still have some catching up to do this weekend.

Thank you

Thanks to all my friends for the comments that you left regarding "anonymous".  I have now blocked any "anonymous" comments as I do not have the time to read such garbage.  Obviously that "mom" has nothing better to do than judge others and write nasty comments on other blogs.  Shouldn't SHE be spending time with her children instead???
I am seriously considering going private so if you want to continue reading my blog let me know!  I started this blog as a way for family and friends to keep in touch with what is going on in our lives and something for Boston to look back and read when he gets older, not to be judged by others.
Thanks again

To whomever wrote that rude comment on my last post...

For the record, I do not "choose" to work instead of staying home and raising my baby! Right now I do not have the choice to stay home or I would IN A HEARTBEAT!  You have no right to judge me or my parenting skills. You do not know our situation!

I cannot believe I am even taking the time to write this post and defend myself...

Next time you want to leave a comment get some balls and at least post your name otherwise keep the comments to yourself.
Thanks
