Update on Houston

It looks like Boston and I will not be taking the trip to Houston next week. Connie has a packed schedule at the hospital for most of the first few days so Kyle decided it was best for us not to go. It is a bit of a relief however I wish I could be there for them. We still need prayers as they travel down there. I also found out that she may be there until October! Much longer than I thought...
On another note, we had a good weekend. We mostly played "catch-up" so all the grandparents could see Boston. It has already been one of those days today and it is only 9AM! Boston was in a bad mood this morning and very fussy. I hope he gets in a better mood at school!

Prayers Needed!

We found out yesterday that Kyle's mom will be going to MD Anderson in Houston on May 6th to start preparation for her stem cell transplant. We have known that it is coming, but just didn't expect this short notice. I don't know a lot of details but Kyle, Boston, and I will be traveling to Houston with her on the 6th and driving back on the 10th (Mothers Day). She will be admitted to the hospital on the 15th and the procedure will be done on the 22nd. She will not get to see Boston from May 15th up until she is in the clear which could be end of June or July. From what I understand she will be in Houston until sometime in August.
Please pray:
  • For us as we travel to and from Houston May6-10th; Boston has not ever spent the night away from home and I'm not sure about how the 8+ hour car ride will go...
  • For our family; these next few months will be very straining and stressful on everyone
  • That the testing, preparation, and procedure goes according to plan
  • For Kyle's mom (having to be away from family and friends for so long)
  • Me and Kyle and that our jobs will be understanding (especially since i have been out for 9 weeks and just got back)My workload is crazy right now...
  • My first Mothers day will be difficult. We will be leaving Connie and spending the whole day in the car. I also won't get to see my mom on Mothers Day.
  • For us this next week as we all prepare for the trip

Building Margin Into Your Life

This was part of my devotional today and it is exactly how i have been feeling the last couple of weeks!

Building Margin Into Your Life
by Pastor Rick Warren

A lot of people are on overload and headed for a crash.
Consider these statistics among U.S. citizens:
• People now sleep 2 1/2 fewer hours each night compared to people from one hundred years ago.
• The average work week is longer now than it was in the 1960s.
• The average office worker has 36 hours of work piled up on his or her desk. It takes three hours a week just to sort through it and find what we need.
• We spend eight months of our lives opening junk mail, two years of our lives playing phone tag with people who are too busy to answer, and five years waiting for people who are trying to do too much and are late for meetings.

We're a piled-on, stretched-to-the limit society; chronically rushed, chronically late, chronically exhausted. Many of us feel like Job did when he said, "I have no peace! I have no quiet! I have no rest! And trouble keeps coming" (Job 3:26 GWT).

Overload comes when we have too much activity in our lives, too much change, too many choices, too much work, too much debt, too much media exposure. Dr. Richard Swenson says, "The conditions of modern day living devour margin. If you're homeless we direct you to a shelter. If you're penniless we offer you food stamps. If you're breathless we connect you to oxygen. But if you're marginless we give you one more thing to do.

Marginless is being thirty minutes late to the doctor's office because you were twenty minutes late getting out of the hairdresser because you were ten minutes late dropping the children off at school because the car ran out of gas two blocks from a gas station and you forgot your purse.

That's marginless."You need margin in your life. When you're not hurrying and worrying all the time, you have time to think. Time to relax. Time to enjoy life. Time to be still and know that God is God (Psalm 46:10).

My sweet angel

Boston has been in such a good mood this weekend! He was so good in church today. He hasn't been sleeping as much during the day, maybe that has something to do with daycare. But they have certainly gotten him on an eating schedule for every 3 hours like clockwork! He is also doing really good at getting to sleep on his own, we just lay him down with his rainforest mobile on and he dozes off. He has started smiling so much and I just love our little conversations. I am sad the weekend is almost over already. I love you more than anything my sweet angel!

2 Month Check-up

We went today for your 2 month check-up. You are growing SO much! You weigh 11lbs. 7oz (50th percentile) and are 23-3/4" long!(80th percentile) Your brain also grew a lot because your head measures 16 inches (75th percentile). You passed all of your evaluation with flying colors! You absolutely love Dr. Sanders, you just smiled and talked to her the whole time and were so cooperative! I am so proud of you! You had to get 3 shots, but Mommy left the room. You did really well and stopped crying the minute I picked you up! You seem to be acting fine thus far, no fever yet. We don't go back to the Dr. until you are 4 months old unless you get sick which I know is inevitable now that you are in daycare. I just want to bathe you in GermX every time I pick you up from there!
You are still grunting a lot and starting to "talk" to us by cooing (it is so cute!). You have also started smiling quite a bit when you look at us and it melts my heart every time! When you are awake you are very active and kick your legs and punch a lot. You love bathtime and storytime and you also like it when I sing "Jesus Loves Me", "God is so Good" and "You are my sunshine". Since being back to work I cherish and appreciate every moment with you even more than before. I am off work tomorrow and so excited to spend the whole day with you. I love you bunches little man!

Thank You!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your thoughts and prayers for yesterday. Your comments are very appreciated! It was a hard day, but I made it through. Today wasn't as bad, maybe because I am picking him up at noon :)

First Day of "School" and work

he looks so sad! notice the finger? he does that a lot!

Proud Daddy!

Today was NOT a fun day! I got up at 5am to feed Boston, then get ready for work. We left the house at 7am thinking I had plenty of time to get to daycare and then to work by 8-8:15. Well i didn't even get to daycare until 8:00 b/c of traffic! So I guess i need to leave earlier! Both Boston and I were crying when I left him there. I cried all the way to work and then some when i got there. However, I had to dig my way back to my desk and check my 400 some odd emails kept me busy most of the morning. I went to check on him at lunch and he was napping. The teacher had changed his clothes b/c he had thrown up on them. He never spits or throws up! Maybe it was just the different atmosphere, who knows...After lunch I had a lovely carpet fiasco to try and take care of so that kept me busy. Which still isn't taken care of by the way. (stinkin contractors, ugh!)
I left work at 3:30 today b/c I couldn't stand being away from him any longer. I feel like part of me is missing, it just doesn't feel right. I can't think straight and my mind has bounced all over the place today. I have also been getting major headaches everyday!
All in all he did good for his first day and I did better than I thought I would. I am just going to have to work my way into being away from him for 9.5 hours a day. Tomorrow I am working until noon then meeting my friend Heather at her new photography studio! I am so glad she finally got a place and I am going to help her with the interiors in exchange for some prints of Boston. We go tomorrow for his 2 month check-up and to get shots. I bet he wont be in a good mood tomorrow night :(

Easter Weekend

Boston and I spent most of Easter weekend preparing for work/school this week. Saturday was a beautiful day but a bit chilly and I cleaned house all day. I was hoping to get in another stroller walk but it didn't happen.
Today was cold and rainy! I'm so ready for the weather to be nice!
We have so much to be thankful for this Easter! It really hit home today during church when Bro. Dale said "Mom's, imagine if you had to sacrifice your son" I cannot fathom that at all! I see things so differently since becoming a parent. There were so many people at church! It is the first time we have been back since Boston was born and I am excited to get to go more often. Boston slept through the entire service of course. We got home and he had a blow out in his Easter outfit so his Pops and Le-Le didn't get to see him in it. We went to Kyle's dads house for the day to watch the Masters (it was also Pops birthday). Overall it was a good weekend but quite bittersweet for me. Please pray for us this week!

Shopping with Baby

Yesterday we all went to the mall with the intention of getting me some transition clothes to start work next week. I have a couple pairs of pants that fit, but shirts are a different story b/c of these boobs! Let me just say the trip was very unsuccessful for me. Kyle bought lots of stuff for his trip to Vegas next month and of course we shopped for Boston. I came home with two shirts and a dress that I bought b/c I was determined to leave the mall with something for myself.
I never thought about how hard it would be to get around the mall with a stroller! There is ONE elevator for the entire mall and it takes forever! After scaling the place for a restroom with a diaper changing station (all the while Boston was screaming and Kyle was shopping) I finally had to return to the 1st floor restroom to change him. Seriously? And how am I supposed to use the restroom with a stroller? I can't just leave Boston sitting outside the stall and it certainly won't fit in the stall unless I find a large handicapped one. By the time we went through that I was not in the mood to shop. I tried on some things but nothing looked good or right. It's weird how different my body is even though I'm not far from my pre-pregnancy weight. And apparently ruffles are in style, b/c they are on EVERYTHING! I despise ruffles, they only enhance the parts that don't need to be enhanced on me right now! So I guess I will continue to sacrifice style for the moment while I desperately try to lose this weight so I can actually get some cute clothes...
It is an ugly day here, just waiting on the rain to come. It is 2:30 and I'm still in my pj's trying to get motivated to get up and do housework and laundry, blah! Boston and i are going to LR tomorrow to take his supplies to daycare and hopefully eat lunch with Melissa. Maybe that trip will be more successful than the last...

A preview of the Easter Outfit and my Pity Party

I tried to take some pics of Boston in his Easter outfit today b/c I know we will be so rushed on Sunday to get to church and busy seeing family. However, he wasn't cooperating very well today. I absolutely adore this outfit, he looks like a little golfer. It cracks me up! Hopefully we will get some good photos on Sunday. I'm really hoping for a family photo of us 3 b/c the only one we have is of us in the hospital and it looks like me and Kyle both went through labor! haha

I'm just procrastinating all of the things that I need to do before going back to work. I need to clean out the hall closet, take some clothes to consignment, go shopping for some transition clothes for work and the list just keeps going on and on. All I want to do is sit here and hold Boston b/c I know I won't be able to much longer. I know, I know, there are many working moms out there who leave their babies everyday, I'm just throwing myself a pity party i guess. I can't help but imagine him screaming his head off in the crib b/c the teacher is too busy with the other five 0-6 month olds. I cannot imagine having 6 infants to take care of at the same time! I just feel terrible that he will have to be there on most days for 9.5 hours! I don't get to leave work until 5:30 so he will probably be the last one to be picked up too. When Kyle is in town he will be able to pick him up early and I have 1/2 days on Fridays which helps some.
My time with him will be so limited, I will get home around 6:30 and we start his bedtime routine around 9-9:30. I'm already stressed about work in general b/c I know they have been so busy and there are at least 3 school projects that need selections right away on top of any other projects that we have gotten since i have been gone.

I started yesterday slowly getting back in to Weight Watchers. I was on WW when I got pregnant and had lost 10lbs so now I'm trying it again. My goal this time is 18lbs. I have 8 pregnancy pounds to go plus I would like to lose a bit more. This time I am doing it on my own without the meetings which seemed to be my accountability and encouragement. So we'll see how I do. Writing down everything you eat really makes a difference! I'm not putting too much pressure on myself yet. I actually struggled to get all of my points in yesterday b/c I have so many more since I am breastfeeding. I'm still unsure how I am going to fit in any kind of exercise into my schedule.

Fear and Grace

I have a couple of friends going through some tough times right now. It really makes my worries seem petty and this really spoke to me so I thought I would share...

"Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever" (Psalm 23:6 NLT).

God is watching over you.

When King David writes, "Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me," he's not saying, "Surely only good things will happen to me!"

The fact is that bad things happen to good people. What David is teaching us is that God can take bad, evil, and difficult situations and bring something good out of them.

It's one of God's great promises to us: we can know that all things are working for our good "if we love God and are fitting into his plans" (Romans 8:28 LB). If you're a believer, the Bible says all things are working together for good—not that all things are good, but that they work together for good. There's no difficulty, dilemma, defeat, or disaster in life that God can't ultimately turn toward good.

When you understand God's grace and mercy, there's no need to fear the future. God isn't trying to get even with you. Jesus shouldered the penalty for everything you've ever done wrong or will do wrong. He paid for it on the cross. So when a bad thing happens, you don't have to think, "God's getting even with me."

Mercy, like goodness, follows us in life. Picture a parent following a little child around picking up after them; God is constantly picking up our messes.

Think about this:

Christians go toward the future, not with a question mark, but with an exclamation point. God will be with you no matter what happens. He will help you out.

God's goodness provides and protects; God's mercy pardons and forgives. God's goodness will supply; God's mercy will sooth. God's goodness will help; God's mercy will heal.

Goodness is the fact that God gives us good things in life that we don't deserve. Mercy means God holds back the condemnation we deserve.

The Final Countdown

Well this is my last week to spend at home with Boston. I cannot believe my 8 weeks is almost gone! He will be 2 months old on Friday!!! I don't think you realize how fast time goes by until you become a parent. It is amazing to see how he changes and grows everyday. He has finally started sleeping in his pack n play and napping in his crib during the day. It is very bittersweet. I plan on spending as much quality time with him this week as I can and I have to prepare all of his stuff for school. I start back part time for next week so I can get my routine down, but I have a feeling i will be working more than that the first few days. Ugh!
Boston goes for his 2 month check up next Tuesday and has to get all those shots. I am dreading it so bad, especially since it will be his second day in day care! Please pray for us this week and especially next week. Just thinking about it makes me cry!
