I think my husband finally realizes why I am in such a funk during the week. He took Boston to daycare for the first time today and he called me to say how bad it sucked leaving him there. I told him "now you know why my days start off on a bad note"
We both agree that picking him up is much better! Kyle has been in town more this week and has been picking him up some. That is my favorite part of the day and is what I look forward to all day! Today was the first day I went to work without having to drop him off and I kept catching myself looking back in the review mirror to check on him. Sigh....
I am so glad it is finally Friday! This week has been a busy one! Everyone have a great weekend!

New Addition to the family!
No, we aren't having another baby!
I finally talked my mom into getting another schnauzer. Hers passed away last November and she has been so lonely ever since. A lady had 3 female pups for sale and she lived about a mile down the road from us. I went to put a deposit down on one and it was going to be a surprise but I wanted Mom to pick the one she wanted so she came with me today to pick her up. She picked the lightest color and smallest one. She is tiny! Only 4 pounds now, but will probably be about 12lbs. Mom is still deciding on a name, but I am so glad she finally got a puppy!

Our weekend with the dogs

I am in search for a high chair, we tried this fold-up booster thing we got as a gift, but he isn't comfortable in it for long. So now we are still using the bumbo but that won't last much longer b/c his thunder thighs keep getting stuck in it! I found a high chair that I want but it is $200! Still debating if it is worth it...
It was a packed house this weekend! I kept Mollie and Andre (my previous two schnauzers) this weekend for the first time since B was born. I was really nervous having 4 dogs and a baby around, but everything was great. It kept me really busy though! I never got all four of the dogs together for a picture, but of course I got some cute ones of the little man :)

Please pray for this family! Little Micah was born the day before Boston and I cannot imagine the pain that this family is feeling right now. I don't know this family personally but his mom is on the same babycenter board as I... My heart is breaking for them.

Why does it take so long? Daily Devotional
In our Devotionals series, Pastor Rick Warren discusses the Bible passages that inspire him the most.
Today's Devotional is based on this passage:
“The Lord your God will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. You will not clear them away all at once” (Deuteronomy 7:22 NLT).
Although God could instantly transform us, He has chosen to develop us slowly. Jesus is deliberate in developing His disciples. Just as God allowed the Israelites to take over the Promised Land “little by little” so they wouldn’t be overwhelmed, He prefers to work in incremental steps in our lives.
Why does it take so long to change and grow up? There are several reasons.We are slow learners. We often have to relearn a lesson forty or fifty times to really get it. The problems keep recurring, and we think, “Not again! I’ve already learned that!”—but God knows better. The history of Israel illustrates how quickly we forget the lessons God teaches us and how soon we revert to our old patterns of behavior. We need repeated exposure.We have a lot to unlearn. Many people go to a counselor with a personal or relational problem that took years to develop and say, “I need you to fix me. I’ve got an hour.” They naïvely expect a quick solution to a long-standing, deep-rooted difficulty. Since most of our problems—and all of our bad habits—didn’t develop overnight, it’s unrealistic to expect them go away immediately.
There is no pill, prayer, or principle that will instantly undo the damage of many years. It requires the hard work of removal and replacement. The Bible calls it “taking off the old self” and “putting on the new self” (Romans 13:12; Ephesians 4:22-25; Colossians 3:7-10, 14).
Growth is often painful and scary. There is no growth without change; there is no change without fear or loss; and there is no loss without pain. We fear these losses, even if our old ways were self-defeating, because, like a worn out pair of shoes, they were at least comfortable and familiar.
Every change involves a loss of some kind: You must let go of old ways in order to experience the new.

Movin on UP
I got a surprise today when I took B to daycare. They moved him up to the next class! It wasn't a complete surprise, i knew it was coming soon, I just wasn't prepared for it today. We love his new teacher but it is sad that I won't be taking him to the newborn class anymore. He has already been spending time in the new class so it isn't a big transition for him. He did well on his first day in the new class!

A couple of weeks ago we all met for dinner at US Pizza. Man, our girls night dinners have changed! Boston finally got to meet Paxton and see all of his "Aunts" (Jeanette, Meredith, Amanda, and Natalie) and of course Miss Georgia. I wish we could all get together more often.

New Painting
I just sent this painting to my first paying client! My blog friend Jennifer wanted a University of Memphis canvas painted for their gameroom. I hope they like it! A painting like this (11x17) is $50. I already have an order for an Arkansas Razorback painting as a Christmas gift! I am currently working on an abstract painting in hopes of selling it until then it will be hanging in my kitchen!

How God Builds Your Faith: Delay

"But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" (Habakkuk 2:3 LB).
Even as you make a decision to follow the dream God places in your heart, you can expect a delay. God will not fulfill your dream immediately because this is another step toward building your faith.In Habakkuk 2, God says, "These things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled."In this step of faith-building you will most likely start asking the question, "When, Lord? When are You going to answer my prayer?"And we hate to wait. We don't like to wait in a doctor's office, or in traffic jams, or at restaurants, or for Christmas presents, or for anything else. But what we hate worst of all is waiting on God.
Have you ever been in a hurry when God wasn't? It's so irritating! You're ready, but God isn't. God wants to work on you before He works on the project. Every believer must go through the University of Learning to Wait (ULW). Some of us are still working on our degrees from ULW
!• Noah waited 120 years from the time he started building the ark until it began to rain.
• Abraham was told he would be the father of a great nation and didn't have a child until he was 99.
• God told Moses he would be the leader to lead his people out of 400 years of slavery, but then made him wait in the desert 40 years.
• Joseph spent years in prison before God raised him up and he became the ruler God wanted him to be.
• God had David anointed as king, but then David waited for years until he actually got to be king.We all have to go through these waiting periods. Even Jesus waited for 30 years in the carpenter's shop before setting out on his public ministry.
Why do we wait? It teaches us to trust in God. We learn that His timing is perfect. One of the facts we have to learn is this: God's delay never destroys His purpose. A delay is not a denial. Children must learn the difference between "no" and "not yet," and so must we. Many times we think God is saying, "No," but He is saying, "Not yet."

No Internet...
Our Internet is out and has been since Saturday afternoon. We think Kyle cut the line when he was edging b/c our neighbors have internet service. So who knows when we will get it back. I can't post photos until then. I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do!

5 Months Old
Boston,
You are 5 months old today and it has flown by so fast, I know I say that all the time but it is crazy how much you have changed! Our lives have become so busy lately and I'm trying to savor every moment with you when I can!
- You are still the cool, calm, quiet baby that you always have been and mommy is very thankful!
- You weighed in at 16lbs the other night!
- Mommy is still breastfeeding you and we have started rice cereal and some solids. So far we have tried sweet potatoes, peas, and carrots. You haven't just loved any of them yet so you must be like your mom when it comes to veggies! You do have formula on occasion and have no problems taking it.
- You are in size 2-3 diapers and 6 month clothes
- You love your jumperoo and still love to be held, especially at night before bed.
- We still have you in the pack n play in our room, we had to take the top part out b/c you now exceed the weight limit! So now you sleep on the very bottom. I usually put you in our bed around your early morning feeding 4:00-5:00. Still going back and forth on moving you to the crib...
- You are almost able to sit up on your own. You can sit up (very wobbly (sp?)) for a short amount of time. Daddy calls you Harry Carey when you do this!
- You have rolled over and don't mind tummy time as much now
- You are starting to notice the dogs more and grabbing a handful of Murphy's hair when he comes close
- You are reaching out for things and I can't wait until you start to reach for Mommy or Daddy!
You are such a precious gift from God and we love you more than anything in this whole world!!!

4th of July Weekend

Houston Zoo
So sweet...
Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend! We made the trip to Houston on Wednesday to see Kyle's mom. The drive actually wasn't too bad. Boston slept most of the way and I thought we would have problems getting him to sleep that night, but he slept normal for the most part. We left around 7:00 and got to Houston around 4:30. That was with 2 feeding stops and a gas station stop. We also got pulled over by a cop and Kyle got a ticket! I swear I thought Kyle was going to jail for arguing with the cop about not getting the guy in front of us who was clearly going faster. And the fact that Texas speed limit signs are very few and far between. I didn't realize the trip to Houston was mostly highway! I thought by now they would surely have an interstate going that way.
Connie was sooo excited to see Boston. She looks really good and seems to be feeling good too. Thursday we went to the Houston Zoo and she even went with us. Let me just say it was SO HOT! Boston did good though. Thursday we drove down to Galveston for the day. We wanted to see the beach and go to Moody Gardens to the aquarium. Let me just say Galveston was a big disappointment! I guess I was expecting something more like Destin, but the beach was nasty looking and the area wasn't very commercialized. There was still a lot of hurricane damage from Ike too. We drove around forever looking for a local seafood restaurant on the beach and ended up settling for Joes Crab Shack b/c we couldn't find anything else!
Saturday was reserved for shopping at the Galleria but Boston was extra fussy that day and it took forever for us to get out of the hotel. We went to Ikea (which is my new favorite store!) You definitely need a few days to go throught he whole store though! I wanted to go to DSW but they closed at 6 so we went to the Galleria and ate at Cheesecake Factory (yummy) and by the time we got through it was 6:30 and the mall closed at 6! I was so mad!!! So no shopping for me, our bank account is thankful though :) Boston had a fever that night and was really fussy so we stayed in and didn't get to see fireworks :( Oh well, I'm sure he will enjoy them next year.
