To Eat or Not to Eat...
B has never really been a great eater, but for the past week it has been impossible for me to get him to eat anything! I assumed he was eating well at school and just not hungry at home but they said yesterday that he wasn't eating there either! It is so frustrating and I feel like I am wasting so much food. I open something and he wont even eat one bite and i have to throw it away. I'm guessing this is just a phase. Any of my fellow readers gone through this or are going through this??? Any suggestions or advice?

Oh my gosh! Riley has been in this "phase" for about 3-4 months now. I have been so frustrated about throwing away so much food too. His thing is texture. If he doesn't like the way something feels in his mouth he spits it out. And I've noticed that he only wants to eat foods that he can hold, for the most part. I guess that's part of them becoming more independent. He's still not the best w a spoon & usually just grabs foods that he can with his hands.
I was so concerned about him not eating that I asked my ped. about it two or three times & he has said each time that it is normal for kids to go through this & not to look at what he eats from day to day, but over a 2 week span. As long as he's getting some of each food group within that range, he is fine. Well, I know that Riley doesn't get enough vegetables. Not anywhere close so we have started buying those veggie smoothies at Whole Foods & mixing in some V8 Fusion (that has fruits & vegetables in it too) along w/ some water so that he can get some that way. He simply refuses to eat much at all. Especially anything that has any nutritional value.
So I completely understand what you are going through. I guess just keep offering him different foods & maybe he will eventually eat something!
Let me know if you get any good advice! I definitely need it too! :)
Hello, I have been following for a bit now, and unfortunetaly don't have any advice. I have a 17 month old that did the same thing last week. He is a usually clean-his-plate-and-have-seconds kind of kid, and he didn't eat a bite for a week. I usually only notice that he doesnt eat when he has a cold, or eating less when he isn't in a growing spirt. I can't seem to figure it out either, but it only stuck around for a few days. Hope he starts eating for you, I know it can be frustrating!
I'm trying to remember how old your son is????
Well Cooper is only 5-1/2 months but he is being the most stubborn eater EVER!!!!! I worry because he's not a fatty baby. He's a skinny mini and I want to make sure he eats. But he will just spit it out. What can I do. He eats when he wants and like you we waste so much food. Its irritating.
I think Coopers has to do with him cutting his teeth. They are right below the gums and moving slowly but we can see the irritation.
I hope you figure out why your little mr won't eat!
