A new task

One of the deals I made with my husband to let me stay at home is I would start cooking dinner.  Every night that he is home!  Now understand I DO NOT cook unless it is something in a box or out of a frozen bag!  I hate dirtying up a nice, clean kitchen (when we actually have one!)  If anything gets cooked in our house now, Kyle does it. With that being said, we still only rotate out about 6 or 7 different dinners.  We are pretty picky (or at least I am :) He is also the griller of the house.

So I have a lot of work to do and a lot to learn!

Kyle is the type of person who goes to the store every day just to get what we have for dinner that night.  I loathe going to the grocery store so I'm going to try to do weekly meal planning and go once a week if at all possible.
This is going to take some getting used to....I will have some "off" nights when Kyle is out of town and on weekends for sure!  So, my question to you dear readers is do you currently do any type of meal planning?  Do you follow any good/EASY recipe blogs or have any advice for me?  Do you recommend any recipe books?  I want to start out with minimal ingredient items and work my way up.  Maybe I will start to like cooking...doubtful though.  Dont get me wrong, I love those pastas in a bag and skillet dinners but I want to be able to only go that route as a last resort before take-out.

So ladies, can you help me out? I want to try to implement some things next week, start slow and cook maybe 2 or 3 nights and see how it goes.  I will keep you updated because I know you all would love to hear about dinner at the Burton household, ha!

hey girl! I usually plan our weekly meals and head to the grocery store on sunday for everything. i've found a lot of websites that are so helpful and have super easy recipes. go to kraft.com, hillshire farms, hidden valley, etc. think of the brands that you mostly cook with and then go to their websites for easy recipes. oh and i like to do a strogonoff one day and it will last for a few days...make a big batch...cream of mushroom soup, an onion, 2lb hamburger meat and egg noodles. it's super easy and makes A TON and it's super good!!! I cook all of the time since my husband doesn't know how so if you need any help or recipes, let me know!!

allrecipes.com is what i use. There is an option on their website to list up to 4 ingredients you want and up to 4 ingredients you do NOT want. This allows you to utilize what groceries you have to make something great! Staples at our house are Poppyseed Chicken and Mexican Chicken Casserole with Rice instead of chips (less fat)! Crockpot ribs ROCK!!!!!! Tons of others...I'll try and email you recipes as I make them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook and bake!!!!!!
